Every once in a while there comes a generation where young people strive to go beyond, fueled by nothing but their perseverance and goodwill. Shamim Ahmed Mridha is one of those young and motivated individuals whose network of environmentally conscious people won him the Diana Prize.

The award is given by the Diana Award Org, which, according to its website, honors a cohort of “20 outstanding young leaders, visionaries and role models from around the world who have demonstrated their ability to inspire and mobilize new generations in service to their communities, as Princess Diana believed they could.”

Shamim was honored to have founded Eco-Network in 2018. It is a youth-led global organization working to achieve environmental sustainability all over the world. In just a few years, Shamim’s Eco-Network has grown through teams in 35 universities in Bangladesh and 23 countries in Asia and Africa.

Open to anyone who wishes to join the cause of protecting mother nature herself, the organization works to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals with projects focused on climate action (SDG 13), clean energy and Renewable Water (SDG 7), Life on Land (SDG 15), and Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6).

Shamim is also a former regional ambassador of Tunza Eco Generation, which is affiliated with the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), he continues to work on environmental protection and advances it.
