Niantic has announced another change for Pokemon Gothis time regarding how players can obtain rare candies outside of special events.
Rare candies perform a universal function in all Pokemon games, helping players power up their Pokemon no matter what their demands. In pokemon go, this is done by using it as a replacement Candy for any Pokémon in the game, including Legendaries.
Previously, there were only three ways to get a rare candy: by successfully completing a raid, completing certain research tasks, or as a reward in the To go Battle League. However, Niantic is updating this slightly by changing the special item drop rates and adding a fourth method to obtain them.
As of now, Niantic is slightly increasing the chance of earning Rare Candies through the GBL, while slightly decreasing it for Raid Battles. On top of that, players can now get rare candies through gifts.
This is probably a positive change for Pokemon Go in its entirety. Allowing players to gather rare candies in multiple ways is a good thing, especially as more rare and legendary Pokemon are added to the game, although reducing the drop rate in raids feels a bit odd since it doesn’t play directly into any of the other methods.
More small changes like this will continue to be made as Niantic updates features and other pieces of content in Pokemon Go.
