An impeccably restored Elizabethan mansion where 15th century charm meets timeless style

Not far from Taunton, surrounded by rugged countryside, stands Langford Manor: an exceptional historic house which has been renovated to an exceptional standard.

The fertile valley of Taunton Deane, bounded by the three ranges of west Somerset hills – the Brendons to the west, the Quantocks to the east and the Blackdowns to the south – is an area of rich soil and water abundant, described in 1609 by the cartographer and antiquarian John Norden as “the great paradise of England”.

According to Victoria County HistoryTaunton Deane Manor provided “a princely income” to its powerful landowners, including the Bishops of Winchester, who owned it from the 10th century and built the great Taunton Castle.

The parish of Fivehead, nine miles east of Taunton, sits on a ridge of reclaimed land which stretches from the small town of Langport to the Blackdown Hills and overlooks Sedgemoor, part of the Somerset Levels and Valley of the he is.

Newly marketed by Strutt & Parker, Langford Manor, Grade II* listed, Fivehead, an immaculately restored Elizabethan mansion built around a 15th century core and set in 7½ acres of immaculate gardens and grounds with open countryside views.
